Commentary: John 6: 22-29
“Amen, Amen I say to you, you are looking for me not because you saw signs but because you ate the loaves and were filled. Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you.”
Lord, today you are asking me to examine what motivates me. Why do I do what I am doing? What is my driving force? If I am even seeking you, what is it that I want? Do I want money, influence or status? Do I pray for things that will make my life easier or more convenient? Lord, purify my intentions. You made everything so everything is good but help me want them for the right reason. Help me see them as tools to be closer to you, the real treasure.
My children learn so much from me without my even realizing it. What am I teaching them about priorities through my speach, actions, dress, shopping habits? My heart is revealed by where I spend the most time and energy. Do they catch me seeking you and serving others?
