Commentary: Mark 5: 1-20
As they approached Jesus, they caught sight of the man who had been possessed by Legion, sitting there clothed and in his right mind. And they were seized with fear. Those who witnessed the incident explained to them what had happened to the possessed man and the swine. Then they began to beg him to leave their district.
Jesus, how sad you must have been as you left this town. The people were unable to see the beauty of a soul freed from such torture because of the cost. Help me to be willing to make the sacrifices necessary to cast out the demons that will inevitably assault my children. I imagine in today’s world, Legion, could very easily look like an internet or pornography addiction. Help me be willing to do anything to liberate my children from these powerful enemies. Am I praying and offering voluntary sacrifices for my children’s struggles in these areas—even if they may still seem to be something in the distant future?
