Commentary: Luke 18:35-43
The people walking in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent, but he kept calling out all the more, “Son of David, have pity on me!” Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him; and when he came near, Jesus asked him, “what do you want me to do for you?” He replied, “Lord, please let me see.” Jesus told him, “Have sight; your faith has saved you.”
Jesus, I know that I desperately need healing. What is it that stops me from persistently calling out to you? Do I listen to the voices around me that preach conformity and independence? Am I truly convinced that you can help me, or does my pride whisper that my faults are even stronger than your grace? Help me to be an example to my children of persistence in the struggle to be close to you, no matter what!
