Welcome back!
I hope each of you had a wonderful summer and are feeling as eager as I am to embrace a new season. As we start into a new school year and for some, a new phase in our journey as mothers, I thought it might be helpful to express what MOMentum is all about and why I believe it is important.
Like you, I see motherhood as a divine calling and a true profession. It is a calling that will provide the moral framework for future generations…for better or worse. Regardless of anything else a mother is responsible for, she is first and foremost responsible for setting the tone and culture of the home to be one that teaches love and cultivates virtue in her family.
As lofty and as critical as our vocation is, there is little to no formal training for the infinite scenarios we confront on a daily basis-from homemaking to relationship counseling, from navigating ever challenging societal norms to nurturing with a home cooked meal, and everything in between. We also know that it is easy to cast the vision of what we hope for our family but that it takes perseverance in a hundred skirmishes every day to achieve those goals.
Years ago, mothers had the support of women from varying generations cooking, sewing and caring for children together. It took a village to raise a family. It still does, but the village is gone.
MOMentum is not formal training, nor is it a village. I do hope however, that it will serve as a support for moms who are seeking supernatural perspective, practical wisdom, experience and just a little inspiration. Together, we can work on strengthening our marriages, find joy in the little things and sanctify the ups and downs that come with every day.
No virtual forum will ever replace good old fashioned in person community and this doesn’t seek to. I do hope to spread the word about opportunities to connect with moms locally that will help to rebuild the village in the real world.
Many have already jumped in and shared their practical tips, recipes, book recommendations and words of wisdom and I hope and pray that many more will. Please spread the word to any moms you know who might either help us with their wisdom or benefit from a little MOMentum!
I have also started to archive resources and materials that I post on MOMentum on this website. Please feel free to share it.
The regular e-mail posts will resume next week. See you soon!
P.S. As always, please share your ideas and resources with me at 4.momentum.moms@gmail.com
Thanks!
