Commentary: Mark 3:7-12
He told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, so that they would not crush him. He had cured many and, as a result, those who had diseases were pressing upon him to touch him.
Jesus, if I ever was tempted to doubt your ability to relate to mothers of large families, this passage has cast that thought out. When I am wishing for a boat to ferry me away from tantrumming toddlers, moody teenagers, and spaced-out ten-year-olds, help me remember that ultimately, you did not run and hide from the cross. Help me unite my big and small crosses to yours by offering them for the child who needs it the most.
