Commentary: John 10:22-30

My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life and they shall never perish. No one can take them out of my hand.

Jesus, when I think of a herd of sheep, I think of blending in, anonymity. It’s easy to become anxious if I feel like I am just being treated like one of the crowd. But you know me intimately. If I want to have true faith and abandonment to your will, I know I can’t hide and just go through the motions of my faith. I need to have a real and honest, one on one relationship with you. If I do, no matter what happens in my life, I know you will bring good from it. Sometimes I can be tempted to treat my family not as individuals but as a massive to do list that needs to “get done”. Help me to slow down and think of each person’s needs, starting with my husband. Help me rely on each child’s guardian angel to accomplish what matters most.

Resolution: Pray for each child by name today.
