Commentary: Matthew 5:13-16
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”
Jesus, what do I need to do to be the light you intend me to be for my family? Every light has a power source, I know if I want to guide others to you, then I need to feed my soul with the sacraments and time with you in prayer. Help me make this a priority. I know if I am vigilant in seeking you, my light will be you shining through me. You will also help me to know where you want me to be, where is my lampstand? Most likely it is right where I am- at home, at my kids’ schools, at work. But you will show me who in those places, needs your light the most and in what ways.
Resolution: Ask our Lord in prayer who needs a little extra love today.
