Matthew 6:7-15
Jesus said to his disciples: “In praying, do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them. Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”
Jesus, this lent as I try to be closer to you in prayer, help me grow in the naturalness of a friend when I spend time with you. I want to ditch pretense and tell you my joys and sorrows, my worries and my failures and my achievements. I know I don’t have to try to look good for you in how I talk to you because you know me better than I know myself.
