Commentary: Luke 6:12-19

Jesus departed to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God. When day came, he called his disciples to himself, and from them he chose Twelve whom he also named apostles.

Jesus, I wish I could have been a fly on the wall during that night before you named your apostles. Help me to remember to pray about my friends also. I know if I do, I will have insights about who needs my friendship, who might be isolated or overwhelmed, but also who could grow because they are asked for help.
