Commentary: Luke 2:22-40
When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, Mary and Joesph took Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, just as it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord, and to offer the sacrifice of a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons, in accordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord.
Jesus, I know that my children are not mine. I am a mere custodian of their souls during their time here on earth. On this feast of your Presentation, I entrust them to your care. I entrust their physical well-being, their future families, their careers and vocations, all to you. I entrust their falls and failures to you, knowing that if they are accompanied by you, they will not only recover but that you will turn their weakness into strength.
