Commentary: Mark 6:45-52
They had all seen him and were terrified. But at once he spoke with them, “Take courage, it is I, do not be afraid!” He got into the boat with them and the wind died down. They were completely astounded. They had not understood the incident of the loaves. On the contrary, their hearts were hardened.
Jesus, as you walked on the sea toward your disciples, your followers, your friends, they responded to you with terror and astonishment. The fear of the storm and of divine power stopped them from appreciating you for who you are. They didn’t know how to react to your power and mercy. What are the areas of my life where I let anxiety harden my heart to your presence?
