Commentary: Matthew 5: 17-19
“Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
Jesus, you remind me how critical my role as the educator of my children is. I know that what happens in the home matters most in my children’s moral formation. Help me to not only to teach my children right from wrong in explicit conversation, but to really develop a culture that reflects those values. Help me to evaluate the moral value of what they are exposed to online, in television shows, in the books they read and music they listen to. I know I need to hold myself to those standards as well.
Resolution: Develop a plan for how my children will grow in virtue this summer.
