Commentary: Luke 19:11-28

“Sir, your gold coin has earned ten additional ones.” He replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful in this very small matter, take charge of ten cities.”

Jesus, as a mother, sometimes I think the coins you have entrusted me with are my children. I know that some day, I will be asked to give an account for how I have invested in them. With your grace if I teach them the faith and help them grow in virtue, they will also inspire their own children to follow you. Souls, not coins are the treasure you are really seeking to multiply. Help me to care even for the “small matters” and to treat each day as if it is the one in which I will have to give an account.
