Commentary: John 1: 47-51 (Feast of the Archangels, Michael, Gabriel and Raphael)
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Here is a true child of Israel. There is no duplicity in him.” Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you I saw you under the fig tree.”
Jesus, I quickly forget that you know me better than I know myself. You know my success and failures, my hopes and my disappointments. You also know what I can do if I cooperate with your grace, and that is why you call me. I know if I seek your will, I will have the grace to do it. Help me transmit this confidence to my children as well.
